Afternoon sports headlines

The Belles fell just short of the super regionals. San Angelo State beat Midwestern State in the first game, but lost the second. They needed to win both to advance.

Neftali Feliz is 8 for 8 on the season in save opportunities, helping the Rangers perserve a 5-4 win yesterday in Arlington. The Rangers are in Chicago for a two game series with the White Sox starting tonight.

The Astros lost to the mets yesterday and travel to Atlanta to face the Braves tonight.

The Mavericks will have rested for nine days by the time they take the court against Oklahoma City tomorrow in the Western Conference finals. The first two games of the series are in Dallas.

And a pretty amazing feat in UIL track and field. Water Valley's Dylan Doss was the 1A state champ in the 1600 and 3200 meters. He didn't lose a race all season. Grape Creek's Alexis Gallimore earned second in 2A high jump.
