Mason High School is number one in a new ranking of public schools in the area put together by Children at Risk, a nonprofit research company in Houston. Among middle schools, Veribest, Water Valley and Wall all earn top rankings. For elementary schools, Santa Rita in San Angelo is number one. The company used things like demographics, teacher turnover and TAKS scores.
