County Considering Guidelines for Welders

Tom Green County Commissioners are considering new guidelines for professional welders to help in times of a disaster declaration. For every welder, cutter, grinder or any person doing an activity that could cause a spark, a spotter would be required. The area around the work would have to be free of vegetation for a 25 foot radius and kept wet, if possible. They would need to have ten gallons of water on hand and fire extinguishers. And, welding would only be allowed, if the winds are less than 20 miles per hour.
