Senate Approves Budget, Now Compromise

Texas Senate leaders have approved a two year state budget that cuts eleven billion dollars from current spending levels. Now, lawmakers from the Senate will meet with House members to find a compromise budget. They’re about eleven billion dollars apart. The House plan makes even deeper cuts in public school funding and employee health insurance. Governor Rick Perry prefers the House proposal, because it does not require the state to dip into its Rainy Day Fund.
