Suspect Shot and Killed by San Angelo Police Officer

A San Angelo police officer shot and killed an armed suspect, this morning. Police Chief Tim Vasquez says the officer saw a suspicious vehicle in the 500 block of East 39th Street and tried to stop the driver, about two a-m. The suspect fled, first in the car, then on foot. The officer found him hiding in a parked vehicle, and when he ordered the suspect to come forward, Vasquez says he was armed with a handgun. The officer shot 20 year old Martin Pena. The San Angelo man was wanted for a motion to revoke probation warrant on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The officer’s name has not been released.
