Texas State Senate Approves Redistricting Map and School Measure

In the State Legislature, Senators approved a final version of the redistricting plan for Texas. It creates four new congressional districts, one in Arlington, one in South Texas, one between San Antonio and Austin and one east of Houston. The proposal is headed to the House.

Senators also passed a measure that gives school districts new authority to lower teachers’ pay and require unpaid furloughs.
