We'll get details this week on a new initiative to improve health in Tom Green County. The county recently received a contract from the Texas Department of State Health Services to promote certain health behaviors and reduce the number of preventable hospitalizations among adult residents. The program is a partnership between the County, Shannon Medical Center, Angelo State University, Baptist Memorial and San Angelo Community Medical Center. The goal will be to reduce preventable hospitalizations related to bacterial pneumonia, urinary tract infections and COPD.
