Tuesday a big night for high school basketball

The Central boys basketball team will finish up the regular season tonight. The Cats already know they'll be playing Arlington Lamar next Tuesday, February 21st, in the first round of the playoffs. The Cats close out their season tonight at Midland High, and Midland has something to play for. They're going for the final playoff spot in district 3-5A. Central wants to finish the district schedule undefeated.

The Lady Cats kick off the playoffs tonight against Arlington Lamar. The Central ladies finished 3rd in the district with a 16-12 record and Arlington Lamar finished second. The Central Lady Cats haven't been in the playoffs since 2008 and haven't won a playoff game since 1998.

The No. 12-ranked Wall Hawks have already won their district title and secured a first-round bye. They'll close out the regular season in Sonora tonight, and with a win they'd be perfect in district play.
