During the next 18 months, Tom Green County residents will be hearing and learning more about three preventable hospitalizations: bacterial pneumonia, urinary tract infections and chronic obtrusive pulmonary disease. From 2005-2009, adult county residents were charged more than 159-million dollars for hospital stays that could potentially have been avoided. County officials are teaming up with area medical facilities to educate the public about preventative outpatient care.
