For the second time, the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons has granted three-year accreditation with Commendation to the cancer program at San Angelo's Shannon Medical Center. Shannon received the accreditation for demonstrating compliance with the standards including cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services, research, community outreach and quality improvement. In addition, Shannon received Commendation in the areas of prevention and early detection education, timely clinical review of patient cases, and continual quality improvement.
