San Angelo Police recovered a handgun during a late Friday night arrest. An officer ran a routine license plate check on a vehicle traveling southbound on Pecan Street and found the vehicle was linked to a wanted subject. After the vehicle came to a stop in front of a residence on East 11th Street, it turned out that the driver, 53-year-old Jose Alvarez of San Angelo, had outstanding city warrants. A passenger, 18-year-old Jose Rivas of San Angelo, tried unsuccessfully to flee and a handgun was found on the ground. Both men are facing multiple charges.
