Whooping cough cases up

Tom Green County is experiencing a spike in the number of cases of whooping cough. The San Angelo Health Department reports that seven cases of pertussis, which is commonly known as "whooping cough," have been reported in Tom Green County this year, six of which have occurred since the first week of December. There were no reported cases of pertussis in 2011. Uninsured residents can obtain the vaccine for the disease from the Health Department on Pulliam Street for 14 dollars 85 cents during the weekly immunization clinic on Tuesdays from 8 to 11:30 AM and from 1 to 4:30 PM.
