Amber Alert canceled; shooting suspect in custody

A Wall man is in custody and an Amber Alert for two missing children was canceled late Sunday evening following a shooting incident that left two dead and one in critical condition.

Brian Jones Berry, 40, of Wall was arrested late Sunday in Andrews County, a dispatcher from Andrews County Sheriff’s Office said. Berry was in custody and the two children were OK, according to a notification from the San Angelo Police Department.

Berry was named the suspect of a shooting incident that happened about 6 p.m. Sunday in Wall. The two children, a 7-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy, were Berry’s children.

Initially the sheriff’s office was dispatched to the Wall residence at 6 p.m. for a domestic disturbance. Two people were killed and another was transported via AirMed1 to Shannon Medical Center where the shooting victim was listed as critical condition, Tom Green County Sheriff David Jones said.

The identities of the two victims and one injured are not being released because this is an ongoing criminal investigation, Jones said.

Deputies stood by at the scene as police tape was used to cordon off the front yard around the porch of the residence. Authorities were making observations to a man’s dead body lying on the porch hours after the incident. At about 10:15 p.m. a body was transported away, followed minutes later by a second one.

Bright lights were set up at the scene, and the Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and Texas Rangers assisted the sheriff’s department.
