ASU Prof to Conduct Band Concert

The San Angelo Community Band will host a concert guest conducted by Dr. Constance Kelley of the Angelo State University music faculty on Tuesday, Aug. 6, in the fellowship hall of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church, 4522 College Hills Blvd.

This final concert of the band’s summer season will begin at 7 p.m. and is open free to the public. The program will include music from the Disney/Pixar animated movie “Up,” as well as “Spitfire!,” “The Thunderer,” “To a Wild Rose” and “Tritsch-Tratsch Polka.” San Angelo’s Donna Fowler and Jake Martin will perform the trumpet-trombone duet “Cousins,” and a display of funicular railways will accompany the final selection,”Funiculi, Funicula.”

Kelley is assistant director of bands and an assistant professor of music at ASU.

The all-volunteer, nonprofit San Angelo Community Band offers a creative outlet for amateur musicians. Its members perform monthly concerts May through August, and for the San Angelo Tree Lighting Ceremony in December.
