County seeks worker raises

Tom Green County's commissioners court has suggested county employees and elected officials receive raises.

The Standard-Times reports law enforcement workers would receive a five-percent salary increase, and all other positions would receive upticks of 3.5 percent.

The county employs 520 people.

The financial impact for employee raises totals $944,896. County auditor Nathan Cradduck tells the newspaper that the impact for elected officials adds up to $121,082.

Employees who have spent three years with the county also receive longevity increases. In previous years, longevity raises have come to workers who have spent five years.

The county commissioners can approve these raises when it meets July 30.
