2012 is not as bad, but drought still a concern

Farmers and ranchers across the state are saying the 2011 drought was the costliest in history, with agriculture losses even exceeding the dust bowl years in the 1950's. That drought cracked the ground in West Texas and forced ranchers to sell off cattle herds, and the pretty much rainless spell lasted for seven years. The drought of 2011 wasn't so bad by comparison, but still farmers are looking for more water and water planners are keeping an eye on reservoirs.
