Police shooting investigation

The Texas Department of Public Safety has released the name of the suspect in a domestic disturbance who was shot and killed by by a San Angelo police officer. He was 30-year-old Julio Cesar Lopez of San Angelo. Police say that, early Sunday morning at the Riverbend Mobile Home Estates, Lopez attacked and strangled an officer who was attempting to take him into custody. As the officer was about to lose consciousness, he fired his service weapon, hitting the suspect, who died from his injuries. The officer was transported to a local hospital, treated and released. The incident is under investigation by the Texas Rangers.
