West Nile virus

The San Angelo – Tom Green County Health Department encourages the public to continue to take precautions to reduce the risk of contracting West Nile virus, a mosquito-borne illness. Preventing mosquito bites is the best way to avoid becoming infected. On Tuesday, Shannon Medical Center reported that it has diagnosed four cases of West Nile virus, including one death. That person was a resident of Concho County. The Department of State Health Services is reporting more than 380 total confirmed cases in Texas.
