West Nile virus

The Tom Green County Health Department is urging you to take precautions to reduce the risk of contracting West Nile Virus, a mosquito borne illness. Preventing mosquito bites is the best way to avoid becoming infected. According to the Department of State Health Services, there has been a higher than usual number of West Nile cases in Texas this year due to the warm winter and recent rains. The San Angelo-Tom Green County Health Department received its first reported and confirmed case of West Nile virus last week.
