Accused Cop-Killer Had SA Record

The man accused of killing a Reagan County deputy sheriff Wednesday night then forcing a SWAT team standoff all night and well into yesterday morning has a police record in San Angelo. Police say Marcus Madison drove through a construction zone on his motorcycle to avoid a red light back in 2002, and was chased by police officers. He finally punched one of them as they tried to subdue him. Madison on that occasion got off with five years' probation. That won't be the case this time, though. Madison is accused of shooting and killing Reagan County deputy Josh Mitchell while Mitchell was searching a Big Lake alley Wednesday night. Then, as we reported throughout the day yesterday, a SWAT team cornered him at a Big Lake home and finally arrested him late yesterday morning.
