Water Pumped From Twin Buttes

Workers today started pumping water out of Twin Buttes Reservoir in an effort to sustain San Angelo's dwindling water supply. Officials say it's critical to pump water into Lake Nasworthy now because demand in these hot summer days exceeds what's available from O-H Ivey Reservoir. Today, crews began pumping water from the south pool to the main pool at Twin Buttes. From there, it will go into Lake Nasworthy. San Angelo is battling an ongoing water shortage which currently has the city in Stage Two of its drought plan with a maximum of sixteen months' water supply available. City officials say pumping water from Twin Buttes to Nasworthy is only a short-term solution to the water shortage. Only one thing, they say, will provide a real fix: rain and lots of it.
