A suspect and one victim are dead, and five other people injured after an early Sunday morning shooting spree centered in Concho County, when a suspect randomly fired at five vehicles as he drove around the Eden area and in Brady in McCulloch County in his pickup. Several people had been shot and wounded before 6 AM, when 31-year-old Alicia Torres was found shot to death in her car in Eola. Minutes later, Concho County Sheriff Richard Doane encountered the suspect north of Eden on U.S. 83 and was wounded when the suspect opened fire. The sheriff was hospitalized at Shannon Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. DPS troopers and a Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden arrived on the scene and exchanged gunfire with suspect, who was shot and killed. The suspect is a 23-year-old man from North Carolina resident whose name was not immediately released. An assault rifle, a handgun and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were recovered.
