Firefighters from Tom Green and Coke counties are continuing to work the Malone wildfire, along with the Texas Forest Service, four single engine airtankers, two heavy airtankers and a helitanker. The Forest Service softened previous estimates of damage. It has burned 18-hundred acres, about nine miles north of Robert Lee, near Highway 208, and is now 70 percent contained. Crews are working mainly the south end of the blaze today.
