Scam Hits Local Shoe Store

San Angelo police are investigating a scam on a local business. A sales clerk from local shoe store received a call from someone who claimed to be from the corporate office. They told the clerk to take a specific amount of money from the cash register and purchase a money gram to be sent out of state for an insurance claim. The person threatened to fire the clerk, if they didn’t do it immediately. The clerk made the transaction and after contacting a supervisor found they had been duped. If you are aware of this scam being run anywhere else, call San Angelo Police at 657-4315.
