The San Angelo Independent School District Board of Education set the dates for budget meetings in August. Board members will also set the official tax rate, which should be lower, since they eliminated the local optional homestead exemption. There were a few new hires during the regular board meeting, but the assistant superintendent for human resources and staff development says it’s been tough to find qualified high school math teachers again this year. Carl Dethloff suggest the board offer a stipend, because that seemed to work for science teachers, two years ago.
